Bond is back… unfortunately!

Had the misfortune of seeing Quantum of Solace last night and I have to say, it's one of the worse movies I have seen in a long time. If had bought the tickets and not Songe, then I would've got up, walked out and waited in the car for it to finish. Yes, in my opinion, it really was that bad!!I'll start by panning the opening credits - which are national institution in themselves. Forgettable track firstly, not the usual rip-roaring dramatic anthem that gets you in the mood - I think Jack White should have sang it on is own. As for the imagery, again, I've totally forgotten what happened!!I admit, I'm a geek and a nerd and for the duration of a film I love to totally shut myself off from the outside world and lose myself in a film, but unfortunately with QOS, I was just totally lost. The plot started promisingly enough, continuing straight off where Casino Royale ended but after the first 20 minutes or so, that was it, I was bored and really couldn't be arsed trying to fathom out what the hell was going on an why.The two opening action sequences didn't help the cause. A car chase and a roof top chase ending up with a fight on ropes. Maybe it's me, maybe it's my age, maybe at 35 that's it for me now, maybe these action scenes are just too fast and furious for my brain. But then I think back to the recent Jason Bourne movies (in particular Supremacy and Ultimatum) and I remember the action sequences in those films (which felt like they were shot on handycam) and I was able to keep up. In those films you were right in the middle of the action and you felt like you were taking every hit. In fact, I actually remember seeing Ultimatum at the cinema with Songe and after one particular fight scene, turning to her with my eyes wide open saying "Wow"! Personally, I think the director of QOS has tried be better than Bourne but for me, the action scenes were cut so tight and frantic, I felt like I was being subjected to some type of shit subliminal advertising.Daniel Craig is believable. He does a great job. He's a moody bastard and you feel for him. He's been the highlight of the last two Bond movies. But for me, as boy who has never really grown up and has watched Bond every Bank Holiday for nearly 30 years, Tomorrow Never Dies is still my all-time favourite. And in recent years, Jason Bourne has been the best.Saying that, I know all too well, I'm probably going to be in a minority of one. It's Bond. Everyone loves Bond. Bond can do no wrong. It'll clean up at the cinema and make shit loads of money, probably being the most lucrative Bond ever… yadda yadda yadda. But to me, like Casino Royale, I won't be adding to my DVD collection.
