Pharma Marketing

Pharma marketing is known for being pretty traditional, and of course, tied down by a WHOLE load of rules and regs. However, this is slowly being looked at, to see if they can embrace the new ways of marketing, for example social media. We know they can, and I know it would be a great move, but they are sometimes mortified by the thought of doing something different, something that COULD be risky. What they don’t understand is that they need to take risks, stand out and be unique. I’ve just come across a new blog called http://www.pharmaconversations.com which looks interesting. Rob Lytie, the blogger, posted about whether or not Pharma Companies have anything to talk about on blogs and similar: The list is endless in what we can talk about.  That said,  I don’t believe that having a corporate  or brand blog is the best  strategy for every company or brand.  It may be , it may not be, and there are lots of factors to consider.

But my feeling is that the fact that there are so many things we can’t talk about, although it makes it more challenging, is not really a reason to not do it… Personally, I think he has missed the point slightly, as I have highlighted in my response:

I agree, there is plenty to talk about, plenty to educate on, and lots of room for better communication in general. It’s not just about “we can”, for me, it is more about: - You can tell us what you are thinking - You can tell is how we need to change - You can tell is when we do something right or wrong - You can help us communicate and engage with like-minded people who are experiencing the same problems Yes, a Pharma / Healthcare company is limited in what they can say, but the customers, the patients, and the medical staff, they are not limited at all.
